Well here it is. It's about four weeks until our baby girl is due to be born. I am very excited and anxious. My wife is just ready to be done. I have been doing my best to help her out. We both work full time and have managed to save enough for her to be off work until May. I have been helping out by doing the dishes, vacuuming, watching our son, and doing laundry. I am not trying to toot my own horn but I know there are many men out there that feel it is beneath them to help out around the house while their wives are pregnant, let alone when they are not.
I make mistakes like anyone else but this is one trait that I want to pass down to my son. As Christian men we are called to lead our families to the best of our ability. I believe this includes helping around the house even if our wives are not in delicate positions health wise.
Many men would chalk this up to being whipped or unmanly. I wonder what is so manly about treating your wife or s/o like something you own or a piece of furniture or even a servant.
We are all servants to the Most High, but we have to remember that we are also servants to each other.
With love in Christ,
M

Trials of a Christian father
This is a brand new venture for me. I am a very recent father, 18 month old boy, with our first little girl on the way. To say I'm scared would be putting it mildly. How do you raise Christian children in this world we live in today? A world that idolizes Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Hollywood in general. You have all of these sycophants drooling over everything these misfits are doing and and condemn anyone who says they have no morals, as if the liberal left has any claim on any kind of moral standing. The age of permissiveness is indeed alive and well in Hollywood.
Liberalism, with all of its magnanimous views, is concerned about only one thing...permissiveness in everything. Do what you want and God help anyone who gets in your way or disagrees.
I am not saying that EVERYTHING that comes out of Hollywood is garbage...just the majority of it. I am keenly anticipating the release of the next volume in the "Narnia" series; Prince Caspian.
As a "newer" parent I am struggling with how to present this world to my children. As a Christian parent I know I have a responsibility to raise my children with faith and love but not shield them from this world and its many flaws, to do this would condemn them to naivete and then the world would just eat them alive.
I know I am rambling in this first post and I promise to stay on point in the future.
